Nurturing India's Next Generation of Authors: PM-YUVA 3.0

A Launchpad for Young Literary Voices

The Ministry of Education has unveiled PM-YUVA 3.0, the Prime Minister's Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors. This exciting program seeks to empower aspiring writers under 30, fostering a vibrant literary landscape across India.

Building upon the success of its predecessors, PM-YUVA 3.0 invites young wordsmiths to explore their creativity in 22 Indian languages and English. This initiative promises to ignite a passion for reading and writing, enriching India's book culture.

The Author Mentorship Program

Fifty promising authors will be selected through a nationwide contest hosted on the MyGov portal (https://www.mygov.in/). Submissions are open until April 10, 2025, with evaluations taking place throughout April. The chosen authors will be announced between May and June 2025.

From June 30th to December 30th, 2025, these budding writers will receive invaluable mentorship from established authors. This unique opportunity will provide guidance, feedback, and inspiration, helping them hone their craft and develop their unique voice.

Themes of National Significance

PM-YUVA 3.0 encourages young authors to explore critical themes shaping India's future. These include:

  • The invaluable contribution of the Indian Diaspora in Nation Building.
  • The profound impact of the Indian Knowledge System.
  • The Makers of Modern India (1950-2025).

By delving into these subjects with fresh perspectives, the program aims to create a diverse collection of literary works that reflect India's rich heritage and contemporary progress.

Publication and Promotion

The National Book Trust, India, will oversee the program's execution, guiding the authors through each stage of the mentorship process. Published works will be translated into various Indian languages, promoting cultural exchange and embodying the spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'.

Selected authors will also have the chance to engage with renowned writers, participate in literary festivals, and contribute to a growing body of work that showcases India's literary prowess.

A Legacy of Literary Excellence

PM-YUVA 3.0 aims to cultivate a new generation of writers capable of articulating the contributions of the Indian diaspora, highlighting their peaceful integration and influence across various spheres. It will also emphasize the role of the Indian Knowledge System in preserving historical wisdom and generating new opportunities.
